Group Project

Information for students enrolled in the Vehicle Engineering Group Project course

Date: 24 October 2024

Location: U.0.01.

Hallgatói beosztás: coming soon

Important information:
Each student must prepare a presentation (PPT) and bring it with him/her on a storage medium (e.g. a flash drive).
The presentation should be made using the official PPT templates of the University of Debrecen:
First template
First template
The first template must be used.1.1.
Third template Second template
Fifth template
The project reports are public, but if the student has a company topic, it is possible to request a private report. This is necessary when confidential information is presented which requires confidentiality in order to protect the company's business interests.
The presentation should include videos and photographs that demonstrate that the work was done by the student.
The project report process:
The presentation should be uploaded to the computer and rehearsed before the presentation begins. If there are any technical problems with the presentation, it is the responsibility of the student.
The presentation starts with the student's presentation, where he/she should summarize the work done in 8 minutes (maximum 10 minutes).
After the presentation, the committee may ask the student to answer questions about the project.

Main parts of the presentation (minimum 8, maximum 16 slides):
Title of project, name of student and supervisor (1 slide)
Content of the presentation (1 slide)
Problem statement, the problem to be solved (1-2 slides)
Conceptual approach to the solution, derivations and factual summary of the principles and knowledge used in the solution (1-3 slides)
Description of the solution (1-3 slides)
Results achieved (1-3 slides)
Conclusions, suggestions for solutions and possibilities for further development (1-2 slides)
Acknowledgements to internal topic leader, external consultant and company (1 slide)
Evaluation:
Structure and content of the PPT: 50%
Student's presentation: 50%
Between 0% and 60%: unsatisfactory (1)
Between 61% and 70%: satisfactory (2)
Between 71% and 80%: average (3)
81% to 90%: good (4)
91%-100%: excellent (5)
Evaluation criteria:
The PPT must meet the formal and content requirements.
Professional standard and use of technical terms.
Communication skills, fluency and focus of the presentation.

Tipical problems:
Too much text on the slides. Too much text on a slide.
Graphs are illegible, graphs and diagrams on slides are too small in font size. Recommended font size min 14 pt.
Screen clipping should be avoided because the caption is difficult to read and there may be too much information not related to the topic. A block diagram, flow chart or simple list should be used instead of a screen cut.
Low level of research and use of relevant literature. Very little presentation of relevant technology and solutions.
Lack of use of performance indicators from the relevant literature (efficiency, consumption: e.g. in km/h, kWh/m2, kWh/year, kWh/km, etc.).
Reference to the knowledge material of the subjects studied. It is a common error not to indicate the knowledge material of the subjects taught in the vehicle engineering course.
